Me in Me

Not the full song. Only took the lyrics that had poetic devices.

[Chorus:]
You better lose yourself in the music, the moment
You own it, you better never let it go
You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime you better,

His soul's escaping, through this hole that is gaping
This world is mine for the taking
Make me king, as we move toward a, new world order
A normal life is borin, but superstardom's close to post mortom
It only grows harder, only grows hotter
He blows us all over these hoes is all on him
Coast to coast shows, he's know as the globetrotter
Lonely roads, God only knows
He's grown farther from home, he's no father
He goes home and barely knows his own daughter
But hold your nose cause here goes the cold water
These ho's don't want him no mo, he's cold product
They moved on to the next schmoe who flows
He nose dove and sold nada
So the soap opera is told and unfolds
I suppose it’s old partner, but the beat goes on
Da da dum da dum da da

[Chorus:]

No more games, I'ma change what you call rage
Tear this m*********n roof off like 2 dogs caged
I was playin in the beginnin, the mood all changed
I been chewed up and spit out and booed off stage
But I kept rhymin and stepwritin the next cypher
Best believe somebody's payin the pied piper
All the pain inside amplified by the fact
That I can't get by with my 9 to 5
And I can't provide the right type of life for my family
Cause man, these g****m food stamps don't buy diapers
And it's no movie, there's no Makai Pheiffer, this is my life
And these times are so hard and it's getting even harder
Tryin to feed and water my seed, plus
Teeter-totter caught up between bein a father and a pre-madonna
Baby mama drama's screamin on and
Too much for me to wanna
Stay in one spot, another day of monotony
Has gotten me to the point, I'm like a snail
I've got to formulate a plot or I end up in jail or shot
Success is my only m*********n option, failure's not
Mom, I love you, but this trailer's got to go
I cannot grow old in Salem's lot
So here I go is my shot.
Feet fail me not this may be the only opportunity that I got

Poetry is more then just poems. It it a part of everyday life and people don't tend to realize it. The song "Lose Yourself" by eminem is a great example of how poetry is in everyday life. The theme of the song is to follow your dreams and never back down. The chorus of the song has figurative language. He says to "lose yourself in the music," to let the music take you somewhere else.  Eminem has been "chewed up and spit out." That is unlikely to happen but the line does show a good example of imagery and how people feel after a loss. He is known "as the Globetrotter." He isn't no basketball player but the Harlem Globetrotters are a group of talented people who are well known. He uses this as an allusion to show his talent of others. Eminem feels little "[He's] like a snail," that is self explanatory that it is a simile. The mood of the song is inspirational. At first he is nervous and gets booed off stage. He also talks about his life problems.  By the end he "formulate[s] a plot," to follow his dreams and let nothing stand in his way. My favorite line is "His soul's escaping" its a hyperbole because souls don't just escape. Overall this song shows several poetic devices. Eminem as an artist is great for lyrics.
